Walter and Lucy at Lafitte’s©

The Artist drew on his experience with one of his more memorable carriage tours and his most memorable tour guide and mule for this painting.  They are shown here at an early morning stop at one of the French Quarter’s best known landmarks and watering holes, Lafitte’s Blacksmith Shop.  Lafitte’s is purported to be the only remaining structure from French Colonial times, and a one-time front for the operations of the notorious pirate, Jean Lafitte.

Grande Dame de la Flamme
de Mardi Gras©
It was a Mardi Gras Day that had started out cool, wet, and misty.  Just as there was a break in the weather and the blue skies began to melt the grey away, there She was, creating Her own citrus- tinged sunshine on a cloudy day.  Definitely one of the types of characters for which the French Quarter is renowned, this painting was considered for an alternate title of  “ Be Free Down in New Orleans”.

Saint Louis Cathedral©

Stately and majestic, with almost fantastical, storybook-like architecture, Saint Louis Cathedral has been the center of the soul of New Orleans for almost three centuries -- calling the faithful to worship.  One of the best known landmarks of the French Quarter, it still beckons to both Saints and Sinners, alike.

Gatehouse in the Garden District©

This is just one of those places that you are fortunate if you stumble upon in the Garden District, and even more fortunate if you have the good sense to appreciate it for what it is:  a living piece of New Orleans history.  This painting is a favorite among family and friends.  Award Winner:  2004 Appalachian Arts & Crafts Festival --- Third Place

Quarter Sunset©

Sunsets in the French Quarter can take your breath away with their brilliance.  Perfect timing for dinner on the balcony with friends - the restaurant was located on the corner of Bourbon and St. Peter. Award Winner:  2004 BNI Juried Art Exhibition --- People's Choice Award.

Fleur de Fish©

What better way to combine Piscean symbology with French Heritage than this fleur-de-lis constructed of lacy fish?  Mardi Gras colors make this a perfect addition to the New Orleans collection.

Lundi Gras Laughter©

This blue-haired babe was having a great time, staying up all night to herald in Fat Tuesday.  Chances are good that she does her own thing and marches to her own drum more than one night a year.  An alternate title considered for this painting was “Standing Out In The Crowd”.

Krying for Katrina©

This work has been remarked to be a single painting that tells an entire story, and senior city officials are quoted as describing it as “…beautiful, and quite moving.”  The scene depicts how Hurricane Katrina affected most aspects of New Orleans life, without obliterating it.  With the indomitable spirit of its citizens, and under the leadership of Mayor Nagin, the City of New Orleans will rebuild and recover.  Award Winner:  2007 Appalachian Arts & Crafts Festival --- People's Choice Award.
