“Laveau’s Tomb”
Situated in St. Louis Cemetery #1, this is the final resting place of legendary Voodoo Queen Marie Laveau. Or is it? There are those who believe M’amzelle Laveau discovered the secret to immortality and is still alive and well and roaming the French Quarter of New Orleans.
Others who practice the vodun arts believe Marie Laveau has passed on, but still remains in spirit form to help answer prayers and grant wishes on the ethereal plane.
Whatever your beliefs, this is a must see for every New Orleans visitor.
Vampires. Voodoo. Witches. Zombies. Occult. Every real practitioner and every true believer in things that go bump in the night needs to possess one of these prints. Now, they are available for a chosen few.
“Angel of Lafayette No.1”
Lafayette Cemetery No. 1 is located in the heart of New Orleans’ Garden District, with the main gate being near the corner of Washington Avenue and Prytania Street. It is renowned for the many crypts and burial architecture found within its walls, and it has been the setting for many movie scenes, including those from Interview with the Vampire and Easy Rider. If you search along the rooflines of the crypts, you will find our Angel there.
Although she has lost her left wing, and her face is worn from over a century of wind and rain, she is still the reigning beauty of all she surveys.
As night falls, she reflects on the day’s events. Maybe, she is pondering eternal, unanswerable questions. Maybe she considers the fate of the souls entombed beneath her. Maybe, just maybe, she is perched and standing guard against the unfathomable horrors of the night.
Whatever she’s up to, she will make the perfect addition to any art collection for New Orleans lovers, Angel aficionados, or Gothic art enthusiasts. Boldly executed in shades of violet and set against a backdrop of billowing hydrangea-like clouds, our Angel can be both dark and brooding,, yet cool and peaceful.
